Since its summer opening, l'Écu de France has welcomed a number of journalists to help them discover the artistic residence, its history and the guest rooms.

"In the heart of the village of Sanxay in the Vienne, former Givenchy make-up artist Nicolas Degennes is breathing new life into the former L'Écu de France inn, by creating a guest house and artists' residence in this house steeped in history."

La Nouvelle -République

"An artists' residence first and foremost, L'Ecu de France welcomed its first seven guests this summer for the Soirées lyriques. " We're thinking about the meaning of this place in a rural community like Sanxay.continues Nicolas Degennes. This house is the history of the village. We want to restore it to its former glory and open it up to everyone.."

Le 7 Info

Behind the thick walls of the building dating from 1575, an atypical place has just come into being, imagined by Nicolas Degennes and Jean-François Lacoux: an artists' residence that can accommodate up to 14 people. Where did the project come from? A long-held desire and a friendship with the previous owner, Suzy Salmon, daughter of innkeeper Gaston Dubos, a local fi gure and theatre director.
